This portal thingy

So I finally clicked on one of the ever popular "portal" links that have been popping up around here lately, and now I kinda get it. I hadn't bothered clicking before because I figured it was just something that would take up more of my time when I really shouldn't even be wasting my time online anyway. But, (and yes, I'm starting a sentence with the word "but") now that I have clicked it, I'm intrigued. Essentially, it looks like the LJ home page except that it's all divided up in a frames sort of fashion that has a point where you can just start typing a quick update, or another where you can view your account status, another with friends' birthdays, another that lists your friends, a point where you could text message friends, another with livejournal announcements, quick links & recent comments to your journal. Oh, and of course a Frank picture, but mine looks like a little red "x" at the moment. I'm thinking it could be super convenient, rather than another way for me to waste time. Hence, intriguing.

Anyway, now to go waste time before I have to go into work at one.
