So I pulled off that going to the gym thing. Got there, got on an elliptical trainer, started my thing. I'm setting up the program, went for 30 minutes (hey, I've done that before) and feeling random, picked "random" for the workout, instead of my usual manual mode. "Random" on these particular machines equals varying rates of resistance, making to more or less difficult to advance the little pedal things you're standing on. For whatever reason, I have supreme difficulty going under 6mph on these things, it requires far too much stabilization of my back and pelvis, and usually results in frustrated Emily picking up speed to somewhere in the 6.8 to 7.2 mph range. Yeah. Umm. I hurt now. A lot. Random, while doing wonders for my goal orientedness because I got to follow the red blinking lights for periods of time as they progressed across the screen, was killer on my abs, quads, glutes and hamstrings. Not to mention, that of course I chose to do this on the day that the air conditioning at the gym is rather broken and everyone there is dripping in sweat.
:::Owww:::
Oh yeah, for the record, I had 4 12 oz diet cokes today. It came to my attention several years ago that I am a diet coke addict. Also sometimes referred to as a diet crack addict. I need my crack or I get headaches, get cranky and can't wake up. Recently, my consumption has gotten out of control, to levels that can't be good for my health, and certainly aren't good for my checking account. So, I'm going to try to keep track. I'd like to work towards minimizing my intake, but I'm not sure what the long term goal should be. To some extent, I can't really imagine my life without my diet coke (which is rather terrifying if you think about it too carefully), but I also recognize that this might be one of those things that I either have to give up entirely or never really have control over it. So... that's just out there. Floating in cyberspace. For me to do something with.
