Wow, it's been a slow LJ week for me. I've just been busy and tired and bleck and haven't felt like writing anything.
Anyway, to finish the post about the trip... after the Louisville interview I drove down to Clarksville, TN. It's a strange little city. There really doesn't seem to actually be a city per say... it's more like there's Fort Campbell in Kentucky and it kind of overflowed into TN in the form of housing developments and a long strip of a mall, stand alone stores and restaurants, strip malls and the like. Nothing looks older than 40 years old and I didn't see any buildings higher than 3 stories. WEIRD. Anyway, the interview started a the clinic, I got a tour, we did the formal portion of the interview and then they invited me to dinner. I accepted and we went to the Olive Garden, things there were ridiculously busy and it took forever to be seated, then served and I didn't leave the city until 8:15pm CST, which put me in Louisville at 1am EST. Overall the interview went well, but due to a lot of little considerations I decided yesterday that I will not be taking that position. There are just a few too many things that make it a questionable placement for me, and the compensation and benefits package doesn't outweigh the questions.
Once I got back to the hotel, I called Ian, he finally showed up, I informed him that I hate his happy little sun (the KY license plate has this obnoxious smiling sun in the middle) and he took me to the Back Door. Apparently this place has a national reputation, and all I can tell you is damn do they ever pour a drink. 3 hours later, I had nearly beaten Ian in darts twice, actually had a shot of Jager (it had been dropped into redbull - not bad, but still not something I ever want to do again), had at least 4 other drinks (one of which was in a pint glass). When the lights came on it was time to go home. Crashed at the hotel and woke up around oh.... noon. Mild headache, definitely dehydrated, but overall, none the worse for wear. I did spend the rest of the day just hanging out though, I was exhausted and my body kind of had had enough.
Sunday morning I went to church with Ian and was very impressed, even if I did get pulled up the front by the pastor while having only one shoe on because Ian had dumped his coffee in my other one. Then we went to JM's parents' house to celebrate his birthday. It was lots of fun, I realized that I very much miss spending time with Tara.
Overall, I want the job with Norton, and I'd love to live in Louisville. We'll see what happens! I know that I'll end up wherever I'm supposed to be, it's only a matter of time until I know just where that is.
