This, that and a little of the other...
Hrm, life is continuing to be what I used to consider "busy" and now I'm thinking that it's actually just life. So, going to have to readjust the way I approach it, this means no letting dirty dishes pile up until they resemble the trash heaps in Labyrinth. It also means getting the garbage out before it starts to grow and walk and talk. And... you guessed it, it means trying to make a re-dedication to my journal. I started this thing to be a bit of a running commentary for my life, thoughts, beliefs, situations, etc. That lasted about 4 months... then it turned into a scattered commentary and bits of randomness. Sooo...

1) Have $1000 in a savings account by September 2005
- Still nothing here. I'm thinking I have to adjust my way of thinking, and my deadline. Effective today, the deadline is extended to December 31, 2005. The new plan is to aim for the savings account in NY, it's a bit less easily accessible than the one down here, and therefore, I have to take me steps to get to the money, maybe resulting in my not getting to it.
2) Have $1000 less in credit card debt by September 2005
- Sheesh, credit card debt is the bane of my existence. I have accomplished not adding any new debt. For the most part, I don't use my credit cards. The problem now is paying it down. This deadline is also extended to December 31, 2005.
3) Exercise at least 3 times per week, every week and keep it going through 2005
- I have totally struck out in this area since the last time I updated. Things got "busy" and my back was sore and I just stopped going to the gym. It changes today though, because as soon as I'm finished with this entry I'm going to work out.
4) Lose at least 50 pounds by the end of 2005
- I've kind of gone up and down a bit, but at this point, am at -15 pounds. Progress has slowed a bit in this area too, but it probably has a lot to do with the whole not working out as much and really not attempting to watch my eating habits as closely. The good news is that I haven't gained back those 15 pounds yet, so I am demonstrating some improvements in my eating habits.
5) Begin volunteering to provide respite care for a family of a child with special needs at least twice a month by March 2005
- Blah, deadline extension, December 2005. I'm disappointed in myself when it comes to this one. Short term goal is to have made a phone call to the foster care agency that handles volunteers by next week's update.
6) Complete Encounter weekend by June 2005
- Done!
7) Set aside daily quiet time at least 5 times a week by March 2005
- Another one with a deadline extension. December 2005 again. Short term goal, keep up to date on my weekly bible study for the remainder of this particular study (Bad Girls of the Bible).
Today's big accomplishment is the Tres Leches cake (3 Milks Cake for you non-spanish speaking folk) in the kitchen and the quilting mess in the living room. The quilting mess looks like a great deal of a mess, but it isn't really. Essentially I'm in the process of cutting my pieces, some of which are still being cut from large pieces of fabric, and some of which are actually being cut from smaller strips of fabric that I've already sewn together. This particular project is going to be a hand tied quilt for a full or queen sized bed. A large task from the piecing stand point, but hand tying will be significantly easier than either hand quilting or machine quilting, so I think it's a worth while first project. Then of course there's yarn all over in various stages of completion, but it wouldn't be my house if there wasn't, right?
Ok, off to the gym, then home to finish the cake and get dressed for Mauricio's birthday party, and then off to the party!
