They kill it. And I don't just mean kill it dead, no, they kill it dead and throw it in a fire until it's black and crispy on the outside, completely grey though out the inside and dry as a bone. And then they have the never to call it medium well. (Well, that was after they had the nerve to inform me that medium well was as rare as they could cook it.) Gah! I need to find someone who can cook me a good, rare, burger. Seriously, I want it just past moo. Kill the cow, butcher it as necessary, grind up the beef, shape it hamburger patty like and wave it through a fire a few times or something. I'm doomed to be without a good burger until I go back to NY in September.

Speaking of September, that makes we think of weddings (because I'm going to be back in NY for a bridal shower) which makes me think of the wedding next weekend and the fact that I just spent an evening wasting time attempting to find something to wear. Now here's the dicey part... the wedding is supposed to be formal. I hate formal attire, not to mention that I know that formal in Newark, NY was different than formal in Ithaca, NY which was different than formal in Rochester, NY. SO... I can only imagine what formal in Louisville, KY is. Anyway, had a general idea in mind, simple, elegant, solid color or VERY minimal pattern, straight, clean lines, long. What did I find? Garish patterns and granny dresses. Apparently fat women (and I'm not THAT fat - just slightly outside the bounds of "normal sizes") aren't supposed to look nice, ever. And someone passed a law that all fat lady clothes are required to look like they were made for someone my mother's age. (Sorry Mom, but you aren't 25 anymore). So. I only found 2 dresses that were even worth trying on in all of the oxford mall. One is pretty much what I wanted, ankle length, chocolate brown, straight clean lines, except the neck line is a little weird... it's kind of keyhole shaped and the top of the keyhole is held together with this funny metal oval shaped thingy. The second is a really nice cut, v neck, little bit more shapely, but the pattern made me want to vomit, even more once it was on. It was black with little tiny polka dots in white and mint green arranged in wavy line type patterns that went diagonally across the dress. So anyway, chocolate brown is on hold for 3 days while I run around town and try to find something without random metal on it.

So, after the dress shopping came the inevitable depression because of the fatness coupled with the lack of success, which logically had to be followed by a trip to Applebee's for dinner since I hadn't eaten yet. And there they ruined my food for me so the only thing I enjoyed was the mudslide. And there we have my evening.

Now that I've bitched and moaned, I'm really not in a bad mood, just in a very opinionated one. And, I'm missing my upstate NY. Specifically, I'm missing places where I know I can shop and be successful and manage to look awesome. Ahh well.
