May. 30th, 2004 08:27 pmOk, 52 hours later I've driven to Louisville and back and now have an apartment to live in as of June 26th pending my credit check being approved. Oi!
So Friday night my mom drove down and we headed off to Columbus, after one false start (I forgot my wallet and checkbook and didn't realize it until Newfield) we got on the road about 17:30 and drove into our hotel in Columbus at 01:10. We pretty much were there long enough to sleep and shower in the morning and then were on the road again by 09:00, and into Louisville at about 12:45. Lesson to be learned... mapquest gives stupid directions around the major cities in Ohio and as further discovered today, if the traffic is light just shoot straight through, saves at least half an hour. I was making phone calls to rental agencies and apartment complexes on the way in from Columbus and finally got someone on the phone with Bronner Realty and he's talking about a one bedroom apartment he has in an "older" building for $385/month and that there are 2 bedroom apartments also. I decided I can't pass this up and we blew off our first appointment so that we could meet with this guy. I walked into the first apartment and was interested but not super impressed... and then he showed me the 2 bedroom...
IT
IS
ENORMOUS!!!!!!
Anyway, nice big 2 bedroom on the second floor of a building that was probably built in the 1950s. It's a cute little brick building with exterior stairs and the interior was still cool despite being 80 degrees outside and the place having been closed up. It also has a good sized kitchen and central air. And now here comes the good part... it's $455 a month and that includes water, sewer and HEAT! It also has a good sized kitchen and central air. My studio apartment in Rochester cost more and you could have fit 2 of them into this apartment! And the neighborhood is decent, there's a school near by, obviously a family area... what could I do? We followed him back to the office and signed the papers and pending my credit check, I have somewhere to live.
So, we finished up, I showed Mom where I'm going to be working and then went to the hotel where we vegged. And then this morning decided we just wanted to get back to NY and got in the car at 08:30 and pulled into the driveway at my parents' house at 19:00.
So now I'm tired, fried, stressing about my credit and spent far too much time in the car. Plus side... I'll be back to my place no later than noon tomorrow. And considering how much I've got to do between now and June 24th, that's a damn good thing.
