Once again I find myself in the middle of horse racing insanity and just don't get it. The city of Louisville has gone positively mad for the past 2 weeks. Last night was the Pegasus Parade, of which I was a participant. Now that, was kind of fun. I helped build the corporation-who-shall-remain-nameless's float, and was dressed in this wonderful Holly Hobby costume as I walked down Broadway. On the plus side? Fun. On the minus side? It was 78 degrees (or something) out, and I've felt vaguely overheated ever since. Tonight, the big buzz is on the banning of "cruising" and the resultant police force that is thriving about 5 blocks down the street. Thus far, I haven't heard anything, if it stays quiet tonight, that'll be wonderful, since I'll be up at 6 tomorrow morning to go to work. Yes, I'm working on Derby day. No, I'm not bothered by it in the slightest. No, I don't even really have plans to watch the race on TV. Maybe I'll do something, maybe I won't.

In other news, my dog, Katie, has recently decided to give her momma a heart attack by choosing to eat sporadically at best. For going on 2 weeks now, it's been barely a bowl of dog food a day. The one thing I have noticed, is that she tends to eat and drink better when I'm home. Now, that's all well and good, but I've got to go to work to be able to BUY the dog food, so she'll have to eat when I'm not home on occasion. Crazy mutt. She has gotten better about the generalized being insane though. Leash training is improving, she's not jumping so much when I come home, and the only non-Katie thing she ate this week as a Newsweek, but since Ian left it on the couch, not all that worried.

Ok, time to update the goals, eat a corndog (which my mother will try to claim is a new thing since I've moved south, but I swear, I had my first corndog in Ithaca and they are a rather random craving at best), and get to bed early.

1) Have $1000 in a savings account by September 2006
~ I have $55 in a savings account. Better than the $5 I had last time I updated.

2) Have $2000 less in debt by September 2006. (This goal was altered to acknowledge school loans & car debt in addition to credit cards)
~ according to the April calculations, I have $1441.56 less debt than I did in January. Still slightly rough estimates, but it's a downward trend!

3) Exercise at least 3 times per week by June 2006, every week and keep it going through 2006
~ Well, on Tuesday I spent 3+ hours dancing around a float in a ridiculously warm costume at the preview party, and Thursday, I spent hours standing and dancing in the sun and then walked approximately 20 blocks, again in a ridiculously warm costume. Not structured exercise, but still exercise!

4) Lose at least 50 pounds by the end of 2006
~ No real progress since the last update, but I'm holding steady at 10 pounds less than last year.

5) Begin volunteering at Kosair children's hospital at least twice a month by September 2006
~ I've gotten through phase 1 of the application process, now to fill out phase 2 (I'm blaming the lack of the completion of this on the silly perfectionism that had me giving almost every spare minute to assisting with float creation.

6) Set aside daily quiet time at least 5 times a week by June 2006
~ Well? I managed once last week, that's better.

7) Decrease my diet coke intake to 1 or fewer 12 oz cans daily, while increasing my water intake to consistently 64 oz daily by March 2006 and maintaining through 2006
~ I made a decision today. I'm coming up on a tight paycheck and I actually had the thought "I wonder how I'm going to pay for my diet coke when I run out next week without putting it on a credit card." The next thought was disgust that I have let this piddly little caffeine & aspartame addiction go so far. I've decided that when this runs out, that's it. No more soda allowed in the house. If I'm eating out somewhere, I can order a fountain soda, but that's it - because that's what normal people do. Granted, the last time I went cold turkey off the diet coke I had miserable headaches and threw up a few times during the first 48 hours. It's not going to be pretty, but this is ridiculous, I'm done.

8) Consistently update my livejournal/blog, at least 4 times/week by June 2006 and continue through 2006 with one entry/week detailing progress toward goals.
~ Yeah, continuing to read regularly, not yet continuing to update regularly.
